1KM1KT Free RPG Community

In the , I suggested we should create our own free games competition since we have problems with the Free Games category in the Ennies.

I'm too busy to run such a competition myself, I'm afraid, but it's definitely worth brainstorming to see what we as a community can come up with.

Name: The Freebies? The Annual 1KM1KT Excellence in Free Games Award?
Potential Categories: Best Art, Best Mechanics, Best Adaptation, Best Supplement, Best Open Game, Best Quickstart Rules.
Potential Prizes: Any free game of your choice, for free!
Judging: By vote of the community? By a panel?

What do you folks think?

I think calling it the Freebies is just great actually. It's cute, funny, a single word and descriptive.

My 2c on Categories:

Best Art (Certainly)
Best Mechanics (I'm okay with this one)
Best Adaptation (From what? This might need some clarification)
Best Supplement (Sure!)
Best Open Game (Yes)
Best Quickstart Rules (Indeed)

How about ... Best Game (rather than just categories)
Best Writing
Best Design (Because the art can be pretty but a design idea can be marvelous)

Prizes is a little much. They are free games, and I think that the exposure is good enough.
