What type of conflict do you like? Which types do you like throwing at your players? What type do you like a GM to throw at you?

For me, I've gotten ho hum about combat. For a long while I was really into social conflict. Right now, I've been having the most fun with skill challenges, once I opened up my view on how to handle them. For instance, a PC was trying to pick a lock but kept failing. Another PC used his sonar system to image the inside of the lock and find the solution. I would have never allowed that before. Now that kind of thing is the stuff of our "Wasn't that great?" conversations.

I like conceptual conflict - i.e. between opposing views of the world. Shut up & roll the dice tends to be the response from those around me.

Actually, I'm falling back in love with straightforward violence, in part because I've been taking steps to ensure that neither my NPC's nor my players get superhuman characters (unless it's part of the setting). Of course, I had a campaign of white-collar Shadowrunners who maybe ruined the "legitimate ways to solve problems" thing for me.
