Its like the more complex version of the Hero Quest game. think RPG cross with both a card game and a board game....

I've been thinking about using cards as character actions and building a character from a deck. I'm sure that's been done before but I'd like to use it to smooth play by letting the players see each card as a solution to problems. Ala moves in Dungeon World.

I've been thinking about using a mechanic similar to the board game dominion. You gain cards and create a custom deck with them. So the actions you took are always reflected in your abilities. I am still not sure about the exact game mechanics.

Maybe we should create a game together. It seems we want to create something similar.

Since I'm not sure what Kumi wants for his request, I'll start up a separate thread for a deck based RPG

I've been giving the game a try (cardhunter.com) - its pretty nice, though perhaps a little too much effort would be needed to bring it to the table top. Essentially its a little tactical game, with the missions being presented like they're old-school dungeon modules. Each piece of equipment your character has gives them cards with abilities, such as an Ax might be (bash x2, weak slash x2, piercing strike x1) at the start of each turn, you draw a hand of cards, and then use the cards to move, attack, etc. Characters level up, you have three races and three classes (human, dwarf elf and fighter, mage, cleric)

It is certainly worth the price of admission (free, with a few premium options)

A lot of these ideas were explored in my game "Voidstone Chronicles" (which should get some updates this year).
