Twitch RPG feeds - my latest addiction!

Yes, I know I am late to the party but Twitch RPG feeds are great and I'm quite addicted.

My favourite is Pubfinders, who stream Icar. https://www.twitch.tv/pubfinders
Sadly, their feed goes out at about 11pm in the UK so I've only caught them live once.

When you watch someone on telly, it is easy to become attached to them. Even though they don't know you, you begin to grow an attachment. When people aren't acting but being themselves (like they are around a table) then draw is more powerful. On Twitch, the people you are watching are responding live, so the draw is stronger.

I don't know the Pubfinders at all but I've watched them for hours now. I feel like I know them. I don't, I know the recording of them. And that's a bit weird, isn't it? It's not just me, is it?

Twitch is one of those things that I probably could enjoy but would take wwwwaaaaayyyy too much of my time. I understand the getting attached part, it's just like a character on a TV show that you like, only real life, only not your real life. So that's not unlike hanging out with your friends.

When I had bronchitis last autumn, I watched tons of RPG sessions on youtube! I couldn't concentrate enough to watch movies (I had a fever), but RPG streams had the right amount of noise/information ratio...

I put one on from time to time, as background, like a radio show. I do the same with live streams of computer games.

For some reason, I don't use Twitch. Maybe I should check some stuff out.

Onix - yeah it will eat your life but I tend to use them like Evil Scientist does: as a background radio show. If something happens on camera that's funny I can always wind it back.

I'm binge-watching Pubfinders like someone would consume a series on Netflix. :)

I used to consume podcasts that way. I don't have an iOS phone anymore and I haven't bothered looking for a good podcast app for android. If I could load Twitch up like a podcast and then take it with me for the day I could really get into that. Hey Rob! There you go, make an app that loads up Twitch videos for offline use. I bet you'd get a lot of downloads (although monetizing would be difficult).

There are some sites that let you download videos from youtube or just download the audio track from a video as mp3, maybe there's something for Twitch as well?

I've found a gaming channel on youtube, turns out they simultaneously publish their sessions as audio-only podcasts as well:

https://intothedarkness.podbean.com/

They play Call of Cthulhu and some other stuff.
