Arthurian suggestions?

So, I am thinking about getting into some Arthurian reading and I was wondering if anyone out there has some strong opinions one way or another. I am already getting a version of LaMorte and probably the Arthurian Companion- but does anyone have feelings ofr a good (or bad) onvelization of the Arthurian mileu?

The Once and Future King is rather good, though I believe it was written for young teens. And The Mists of Avalon is definitely a topper of the Arthurian reading list, being the tale told from the perspective of the women of the story.

The Once and Future King is all that i have read... it was quite good though. also, Le Morte Darthur by Sir Thomas Malory is said to be good.

I have, so far, grabbed the Aurthurian Companion and started collecting a few books in the genre. There are a lot of books out there, and while i have yet to read Mallory's work (I am staying away from TH White) the suggestions off of the Pendragon rpg site look good. I am also starting to look into the Osprey man-at-arms guides to get a feel for the warriors of the period.

Le Mort de Arthur is really the standard when most people talk about Arthur. The movie "Excaliber" was based on this book. I say standard because it has all the fantastical elements but still keeps things to a (gamers) reality. i.e. mostly swords and not magic. Arthurian Companion is a wonderful book and is necessary if you wish to delve into all the legends. The once and future king is another good book.
My favorite though is The Forever King! It doesn't rely on the legends so much as it is a "what if" kind of story. The main antagonist is the legendary Saladin who found the grail thousands of years ago. This is also the same Saladin who fought in the crusades... The final book I would recommend is the Arthurian Handbook. It's like a mini encyclopedia of Arthur stuff.
