I absolutely think so. Role play is already an important part of dramatic instruction, and to make a game of it for instructional purposes seems very logical.

I would choose something simple and fun with a real-life setting rather than a fantasy one. Also, avoid some of the more violent aspects of first generation RPGs that might red-flag a parent.

Here are a few I found with a quick search of our repository:

Most certinly.

A good part of my 5th and 6th grade education was done thrugh a series of simulations. In fifth we had: colonising America and the Oregon trail. Sixth had Egypt, Greece, Rome, and survival on an island after a shipwreck. Really, my dream job would be as a consultant for schools writing custom wargames and RPGs for their ciriculem. If you haven't already been to you should - its a similar idea, but using wargames to teach kids about famous battles.

Heck yes! RPGs make great tools. It's like writing a story, but one where everyone helps write it.

Also, this is my first post here. Hi guys!

Howdy Octavian!

I say MOST definitely! I have been a teacher for a while now, and ANYTHING you can do to get the kids actively involved like that is a GREAT thing!

So, didja do it?
