What is RPAGing you ask?

It stands for Roll Playing (with) Animated Gif(s)

How does it work you ask?

NOTE: Let me start off by stating that it does require a bit of computer knowledge on the players part, in the way of making a quick (down and dirty) animated gif. We at RPAGing will upload all sorts of pre-set images and other tools to make game playing convenient and easy.

A player logs on to the web site and posts a challenge such as:
"Catwoman, in the middle of stealing the jewels of an estate penthouse on top of a sky scraper, has tripped the alarm. She decides to cut and run with what she's all ready got in her bag and vacates the building in an attempt to get away clean."

You the player go ahead and start crafting your animated giff of predetermined length (30 seconds?) and size (Pixels by Pixels) knowing that someone will go ahead and reply to your post that: "Batman swings in to stop Catwoman".

Upon the end of the challenge period (1 week) you each post you animated giff with a choreographed fight scene: throwing a punch, spin kick, landing the kick, block.

Each player will decide how many points from a pool of 12 they will spend on each action before they post the giff. Each giff will go head to head and the math will play out based on a preset formula to determine a winner.

The two players can continue, if they both so choose, by posting another scene in the fight and so on and so on until it comes to a natural -end.

NOTE: once you've created one animated gif you can keep it and simply change out the background and sequence of moves making each additional game easier and easier.

What RPAGing will provide:
-a handful of preset "blank" action male and female poses for the players to customize
-background settings
-battle math formulas
-a web site to post your gifs to
-link to a free image editor software for animating gifs

Anyone interested?

A demonstration?

It would be interesting to see it done, complete with animated gifs. Could you maybe post an example of play, or maybe provide a link to the webpage that you mentioned so that we can see more. It looks like a lot of work, but if animating is your hobby, many people might find somthing like this ideal. Thanks!

I just thought it would be cool to include some strong visuals with the game, make it more interactive but as I've been sitting here putting together "down and dirty" animation it's much harder than even I thought...

They again, maybe it wasn't as hard as I thought...

I invite all you to take a look.

Nice!

I like the direction that you are taking this idea, but one suggestion I might add is allowing in the rules for people to supply non animated gifs. The idea is that a animated gif is more powerful, but this would allow people developing their skills to have a go at the game. You might get more people involved this way (I might even have a crack at it).

I also like that you are emphasing hand drawn art, not necessarily the pixelated kind (rom rips, so on). This provides inspiration as well as preventing people reusing Dragon Ball Z fighting game sprite rips.

I am keeping an eye on this one :)

Cool

Thanks for the suggestion. I will be glad to adapt the rules for static art along with animation. Also, I'm busy working on a half dozen or so "blank" action poses (men only right now) for people to freely download and use.

All I need help on is some sort of non-dice combat math system. Any ideas?

Pls help me.
