How to Open License Your Game

I've written an article on my blog on how to release your game under an open licence. I always think it's a shame when games, particularly free ones, aren't open licensed. You're already generously sharing your work, why not let others build on and adapt it?

However, some people have trouble figuring out open licensing, and many have fears about losing control over their works. I hope the article explains and dispels those fears, and I'd like your feedback.

If I were to do this, which is the plan, it would totally be under cc by-nc-sa.

That way if they decide to use anything then they have to attribute where it came from, they can't sell it and others have to be able to do the same, which is modify the material and not be able to sell it.

Of course, if someone wants to legally sell their modifications, then that's something they can contact me about so we can work out a deal.

As for Art, it's always the hardest thing in the world to keep track of. Text is something that after a lot of fighting and recognition, a lot of people have understood that plagarising is bad. They'll do it, but it's easier for them to understand that. For some reason, any visual art doesn't get the same respect. People seem to have no compunction when taking art for commercial applications. Someone I know is constantly fighting to keep one or two pieces of theirs that are really popular out of people's hands who keep using it without permission.
