As I understand it you are working on developing a system based on the ramblings and meanderings of the Monstrosity system, right? Do you have a specific setting in mind?
Lately, I have been mulling over a theme and general setting and would like to marry it to a system that could gorw and develop with the setting... basically developing both in tandem to one another.
Sound like something you might be interested in?
The offer extends to anyone else. I think the braintrust of 1km1kt should get together and seriously put our minds to making a solid rpg of our own.
I think it could be fun.. and we certainly have enough talented minds and expirience to put something really worthwhile together.

Hey there, Chris -
I was referring specifically to our discussion of your 2d10 proto system that was beginning to take shape, which was in turn spawned from our posts in the Monstrosity System thread (specifically referring to players determining their own TN). But yeah, count me in!

I can help with play testing if nothing else. Those ideas to update my 24 hour rpg are still bounceing around in my head. Every now and then, I can stop and write one down, but I've been pretty busy with work this past week. One reoccuring question is "what are those d30 for?"
Happy Monday to ya all!

The more I think about it- the more I like making the powers of the Templars actually Infernal in origin. Fight fire with fire- that kind of stuff. However, the Templars (and by default, the PCs) have learned to somehow siphon off the essence of Infernal magic without corrupting themselves (or at least greatly reducing the possibility for corruption).
The end result would be that the allegations leveled against the templars by the Pope were correct- but the Papacy neglected to look at what good the templars were doing, and, more importantly, that they had harnessed the demonic power and made it a force for the Church. For their part, the Church is unswayed by such arguments, and the French government stands to gain a whole lot of land and riches by seizing the Templar's assets.
The PCs could be but in all sorts of situations- do they succumb to the siren-song of infernalism to gain even more power and ensure their survival? Do they abandon their brethren and recant? Do they go into hiding, trying to continue the Templar tradition underground?
...
I am certainly not wedded to this idea at all. Matt, PenBot, Rob, if you have other suggestions for fun setttings or a good rpg... throw them out. We will see which ones get us, as a group, excited.

What about adding in the mad legends of their connection with guarding the holy grail?

Yeah, all the legends about the Knights Templar guarding the grail are all rubbish. Either invented by Victorian Aristos or a group of Frenchmen in the 1950s who wanted to give themselves royal lineage - using the holy grail (meant as the bloodline of Christ with Mary) as back up and motivation behind the Church's disollution of the Knights Templar, etc etc. A pleasant legend but absolutely no academic fact or proof in there at all. And please don't quote that Da Vinci code because even some of the 'facts' listed at the front are not actually facts.
Inquisition? I think they'd be great in a game like this. No one would expect them, of course. I definitely think it is worth doing but the system will need to reflect the mad cap style of sword fighting - not easy to do with dice and paper, me thinks.
I do like the fantasy idea too, very original but I must admit the Knight Templar as kick arse for the Lord is much cooler.
