Bard system, reshmucks
Posted: Thu May 06, 2010 1:34 pmI like this idea well enough to work on it with you, ie. design and layout cards like in the back of my cyberpunk playtest document, Cyberpunk Remix. You can find it in the Two Months Left thread. You could tell me what to put, or we, together, could brainstorm words to go in the decks, oooh! We could make genre decks.
I think characters should get free words from race and class and then a few that they can pick from out of their imaginations. Hmm, but what about for different genres... maybe for a pulp genre characters could get some free words based on economic class and profession. For super heroes they could get a free word or two from their secret identity, and then pick from a list of super power words, flying, blasts, super-strong, etc.
Honestly though, do what you feel. If you don't feel inspired or you can't figure it out, leave it, at least for now. But I think, if you seriously want to start a small gaming company, a card based RPG might be a strong start, what with the print on demand options we have nowadays. People will download a game and buy dice, but they will buy a deck of cards from you because any cards they make up based on our playtest pdfs they download will not be as nice as the cards you got from the printers.
