Favorite Solitare Rules

Hellu,

So I know they're out there. Solitare rules. For the lonely and alone. Or those of us with limited schedules that never line up with fellow gaming geeks. Or whatever other excuse I can come up with.

But solitare games! Or games with solitare/solo options. What's out there that stands out and folks around here love and adore? Any genre will do. Just looking for some more fun.

And sorry if this is a done thread. But, hey, consider it a bump.

J~

Done thread or not, this is an excellent topic worth reviving! :)

I've read but not tried any solitaire rules because they don't excite me. The last time I was excited by roleplaying solitaire type experience where the books. Not really a fascinating roleplay experience and with barely any replay value but fun nonetheless.

How about you, J, any you fancy?

I'm a fan of Chronicles of Arax- it nickles and dimes you for additional content but the core pdf is free, and supplements are available for cheap ($1 ea.).

Woah, Fighting Fantasy is new to me. Kinda reminds me of the old Lone Wolf series which I dug as a kid.

I've recently stumbled across print-n-play games and enjoy those a great deal for quick one and dones.

Ross Wilkin's is a good play with some variety to keep it from being too repetitive.

I'm kinda looking for more games along the SoloQuest lines, something with a bit more character but anything solo may be so tied to random encounters that it'll get repetitive at a certain point.

Maybe I'm wanting too much out of a game or should just make it myself. ;)

But any other suggestions would be awesome, always looking for new games to play.

I'm contemplating creating solo rules for Orchestra, but they'd sorta require you to make either a set of characters or a well-balanced character without any real power.

can be played solo, or with a group. Its a free game of air combat in the jet age (though there are spin-offs for WWI, WWII, Stingray, and Robotech) played with a deck of cards on a 52 space board. Although it trades fidelity for ease of play, and is somewhat heavily luck based, matches go quickly so you can always switch sides or move on to a different scenario.

I recall the Hounds of Tindolos game, and on 1km1kt.net being pretty good as well.

If that isn't enough, you can take a look at "" over on Board Game Geek. Plenty of free Print and Play solo games there.

If your looking to try some Solo-Hack n' Slash-Style RPGs I have
a couple iterations of my own game Realms of Lore (RoL) for
download at the RPG Laboratory Site.

The link in my signature goes links to the pages of both versions.
Check 'em out if your interested.

As for solo-games . . . the best I find are still the old FnF books.
A little linear, but mostly well done and fun to play.
