So I've been beating my head up against this. I'm a character sheet packrat and that means I like to stuff as much into a character sheet as possible. Plain boring squares fit the most into a sheet so I naturally default to that.

I've thought of having each item have a background image of a part of a steam engine. It's just that it makes it really hard to be efficient space wise on the sheet. I'll probably try it out anyway but does anyone else have any suggestions on how to make this a fun and cool sheet?

do you have lots of stats in the game? sometimes all you need is stats, equipment, notes.

If I were you, I'd make a list of stuff you definitely need, a list of things that would be cool and helpful, and then work on how to present it.
Having access to this list would also make it easier for us to give you suggestions on that last measure.

This is the boring sheet I have now. It's functional but not interesting. I'm trying to figure out how to jazz this up and make it visually appealing.

Hurm. Aside from re-jigging the layout (I'd put the attributes under the top-left box, with the skills under that, and the events and equipment on the right instead), I don't really have many ideas for change. I could take some effort to look into SPF so I can give you some proper insight, but it's quarter past midnight, which is not 'internalize an unfamiliar RPG's system and setting' time.

No rush. I'll be here all week, just remember to tip you waitress. (ok yeah I'm in a random mood)

Those sheets are all very well. You've got those in the bank. Now try and create the most insane version. How about all the skills already written on the sheet and the players just write numbers against them? (I've considered this) How about doing it all in pictorial form? How about removing any straight lines?

Come on, let's see some wild ones!

If all the information is applicable to all players, I could easily tolerate a two or three page character sheet.
