Hey, Guys!!

Version 1.4 of Hi/Lo Heroes is a free download once again!

Keeton wanted to test the waters for a potential pay item for download, and was really cool in that he let Hi/Lo Heroes be the test product!

It was a cool experiment... but unfortunately, people weren't moved to part with their dollars. No biggie! I was just thrilled that Keeton thought my game was worth money.

Still, sales were low. The PDF RPG market is crowded and everyone's budgets are tight... so Hi/Lo is free again! YAY!!

This version is bigger and better than the old free download so give it another look!! (Really, you won't be sorry!!)

Thanks, everyone ... and enjoy the game!!

That's a shame because it's a cool system.

I'd already downloaded the game when it was free... so sorry

Mind you it probably didn't help that it's on 1km1kt whose LINK title on my favourites file comes up as "Free Online RPGs" ...

Don't give up on it though. It deserves a larger audience...have you thought of refereeing a couple of games at a local club or convention ?

Nowt to lose doing it :D

Just wanted to let you know that the version you downloaded back when it was free is older and not as good as this one... give this a second look.

I'm not disappointed... (well not too much) I love gaming and games and I will play every chance I get until the day that I die. I want others to play my game and if keeping it free means that people keep playing than I am a happy clam.

For those who may not have looked at it before some of the strengths IMHO...

Random Character Creation Option ... many gamers are not also comic book fans... to make this supers game more accessible to the non-comic savvy gamer, you can roll a few dice and have a character ready in minutes (less than half an hour for a first timer, I can have one ready in less than 5 minutes.) No need to "think" about what you want... just roll and see what you get! (You can also make your choices based on a concept if you actually know what you want.)

EASY MATH. Simple die roll mechanic means super fast task resolution.

Innovative character advancement system based upon die rolls.

And ... uh, I just like it.

The powers of the game are all just descriptors used to rationalize die modifiers ... I don't feel the need to get all specific about how many kilowatts of electricity is generated by Thunder-man's lightning attack. If it becomes important, the GM and players can each work together as good story tellers to iron out the details. Some powers will suggest more creative interpretations in others. The rules try and keep the characters as balanced as possible in the battle field... but in the story telling arena a player's imagination might envision all manner of use for their power and the rules encourage this (I hope.)

Anyway... this version is the result of some play testing that revealed weaknesses in the system I'd love it if more people would try this out and let me know their own findings.
