Thanks for the compliments on The Creature Of Murky County RPG, Jeff. Not only did I get to make a fun game, but I also got to make a game that was based off a movie from a Mystery Science Theater 3000 show, which I've always wanted to do. This has been a fun challenge, and I've enjoyed all the entries so far, including Taking, which I just downloaded thanks to your link.
'Taking' is excellent, Tad. A very functional yet simple system, and what I really like is the interesting horror world the game takes place in. I like the modular approach as well.
I think what I've liked most about the character sheet rpg's is that they each create their own worlds in the space of one page. The minimal rules set out the dynamic within the world of the rpg and help define it as well.
I've also enjoyed how easy and quick it is to make a character sheet rpg. I couldn't help create one more called 'Treason Season', which I have sent in to 1km1kt so it will probably be posted soon. I wanted to see if I could make a game like Paranoia, but in one page. Instead of a dysfunctional futuristic Big Brother type setting, I instead decided to create a world in which today's political climate is taken to it's fictional extreme. I ended up liking the game a lot. Though it is a much simpler system than The Creature Of Murky County was (and that was pretty simple), Treason Season has a little more complex of a challenge, as the character's attributes are assigned by the player rather than determined randomly, and, like Paranoia, the dark world of the game is tough to survive in. I'll post a link when it's up.
