Best kept secrets...

So, I am getting ready to run Rage, Precognition, Grace for my group and I am in a pinch to come up with an adventure for that evening. Then I remember the adventure "Orcs Among Us." which I have run twice already to introduce new players to gaming. As introductory RPG Adventures go, I just really like it.

This makes me realize that I haven't thought much about Brutal in a long time and that I never really read about it either. Brutal is a free Fantasy RPG. It is excellent. It is professionally done. It is complete. It is very, very playable. It is fun.

It occurs to me that many may not have heard of Brutal.

So I wanted to start this, "Best Kept Secrets..." thread. List a free RPG game here that the 1km1kt community may not already know about. Is there a free game out there that you really like that you've never seen mentioned here in these pages...? Tell us about it!

My submission: "Brutal" ...

Give it a look. It's really excellent!

One of my favorite free RPGs is called 'Fungeon' from a group called Harlekin-Maus games. Here's the link:

They actually have a few interesting free RPGs over there.

Thought I'd give another link to a game you may not have seen before. It's an RPG called Capes that's about superheroes. They have a free pdf called 'Capes Light', and they also have a demo you can watch. Here's the link:

I've had Brutal in my pdf rpg collection for some time, but have only skimmed through it. I'll check it out in more detail when I get a chance.
So you've already seen Capes... darn. Guess I'll have to find another 'best kept secret' to share in the near future. : )

I keep coming here hoping to discover all manner of magnificent new recommendations for RPG links... but I guess the folks out there don't browse the internet in search of RPGs as much as I do... here are a few more:

By the way... about a million years ago I wrote an RPG called "Freespace" then changed to "Xerospace" because of problems with my name being the same as a computer game of the time... anyway I had a freebie web site and my game available for free download.

I don't have a copy of my game anymore. The website is gone. I used to link through a free RPG link collection at UncleBear.com... did anyone out there download "Xerospace" is there any chance you could send me a copy?

I've found a few more to contribute to the list:

Here is a wide array of free rpgs; I like the game Monsters & Mazes which is among them-

For anybody familiar with the TWERPS system (and those who aren't), here is a webpage for it-

For fans of the game Villains & Vigilantes, here is a free upgrade of the game system by the creators of the original rules-

For roleplayers who also like the gamebooks of the Lone Wolf series, most of the books are available for play here-

For those that like the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks, here is a website which has original (though unofficial) adventures that can be played online-

Enjoy!
