I've been working on an online-distributed Steampunk RPG called Coal. It is and will always be free, but I was looking for some feedback on what I have so far. It's currently playable for adventurous types, but not truly ready for mass consumption. If you're interested in checking it out, the site is at https://www.coal-rpg.com
If you like what you see, you can help me out by telling me what you think. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

Coal looks cool! Have you checked out "Dr, Mr, The, Rob Lang's" steampunk game?

He blogged through it's creation, fascinating reading!

Hi,

I have some feedback.

(1) I'm not a huge fan of the format. The font is not particularly readable (I understand the effect you're going for with the font, but that's best saved for the headings). I prefer a document to read through rather than a hyperlinked website (others' mileage may vary).

(2) I'd like an explanation of the game at the very start.
(a) Show me a character sheet
(b) Give me a glimpse of the setting
(c) Talk me through what happens in a typical session
(d) Explain the mechanics (very simply).

This can easily be a waste of time, but it can just as easily be a great intro to the game and get my head into the space you want it to be in.

For example, I opened up the setting page and read: 'answers one basic question: what happens when a culture gets its technology too fast and too easily?' Now I'd quibble and argue you should say 'ASKS one basic question' but nonetheless that's a great insight into your game that's hidden away instead of right there in the introduction.

(3) I'm a big fan of open licences, like Creative Commons. If you've considered an open licence and decided against it for one reason or another, fair enough. But if you haven't considered it, would you consider it?

(4) I notice you haven't named the mineral from Tavez. Can I suggest 'unobtainium'?
