I have started the first draft of what should be a full written adventure, but I do still have a weekly blog on general gaming stuff, and this week I write up a little bit of a play test of Fantasy Flight Games' Only War free adventure. Sadly, I can't afford the buy in for the full beta, so Will have to do.

Oh, and the home page looks way better these days. Big thanks to everyone out there who knew more about Wordpress than me and offered advice and help on making it look a little more professional.

Reading through this stuff now, it's definitely a nice-looking page, mate. Mine's just a silly mess, hehe. But most of the content is also just silly messes, so at least I'm consistent and I have fun.

Your AP on 11th Hour made me want to play 40K. I've got a bunch of buddies that are really into it, I've never tried it myself.

I've been chewing over the adventure design dilemma myself for a while now. What's worth putting on paper, and what's not? What's likely to change, what's canon? Players are such an incorrigible lot of rebels, you never really know for sure! I've toyed with notions like getting my players to write down their plot suspicions and wishes in a hat whenever we touch on a plot point, and whichever one I secretly draw is the truth of the matter. I can see it working well for NPCs: Who is that guy, really? An evil twin, the good version is trapped in his basement! The King, facially reconstructed! An alien! An illithid! Etc.

Struggling a bit at the moment to think about how to phrase stuff for an adventure that I'm not actually running, for players I've never met. Very much out of my comfort zone, but still well worth doing.

In other news, rocked a new this morning. Just some tips this time about how being an archer can be a bit more fun in a medieval fantasy campaign.

Lovely! I'll definitely be using this. I've tried to look into archery and its role in historical battles myself, but it's nice to get some concise info streamlined for RPG from an expert in the field.

there is actually a bit more to it, but I try to keep a lot of the posts below 1000 words, and since I know from experience I could easily hit 3000 on the subject I had to cut quite a lot out. As Ant Says in the comments bit, I never even touch on mounted archers. Maybe later...

Will do! As I've said, it's nice to get some use out of the degree. I think there might also be some more modern weapons getting a look in later on too, being a big fan of some black powder weapons that were used in the 19th century.
