Today I share a bit of my creative process with the masses. As well as writing up an adventure, I'm also in full swing of planning my next campaign, and if you're interested in how I go about it.

Morning all you monkeys. Today's fresh and is all about board games. With high production costs, with the exception of Cheep Ass Games, I can't think of any free board games out there. Suggestions...

I know that Board Game Geek has a list of a few hundred - helpfully split into alphabetized categories no less. Unfortunately, the "game-it-yourself" website went down a year or two ago but and should have some worthwhile resources as well. The first one updates every day and tends to say a bit more about the games, as well as include modeling advice and other features. Meanwhile, the later is a bit easier to search since the game are in convenient lists, rather than split across dozens of pages.

One of my favorite free boardgames is actually found on the forums of one of those sites. is a game of 1970s air combat that does a great job of making a complex real-world scenario easy to play out. Variants are available for both the world wars, and a few hypothetical scenarios (I took a shot at replicating Robotech, and there is also "Stingray" and "Transformers") If you want to play, just keep in mind luck can be a big factor, and too even a match can be a bit of a stalemate, so try a quick mismatched game and then switch sides.

To answer the question you posed in your blog post - I don't get too attached to my personal avatar in most board games, but if its a war-game, i do tend to gravitate towards certain units. If they pull off a notable act of heroism or lucky survival, I tend to protect them a little bit more.

Thanks for that mate, I've been flicking through some of them, and all I can say is WOW!

Today though, I'm offering some more of my historical knowledge,, since the last one went down so well. Moving away from ranged combat this time though, and looking at how a long sword can still be used in a dungeon, with a little move known as the

Hello everybody! Just a quick plug of this week's blog, and a look at how money plays a role in gaming. Either as an abstract that gets used when needed, or mountains of coins getting divvied up after an adventure. I like the idea of a middle ground, but and let me know what you think.
