Dreamscape Name Dilemna

Over at the Forge I made a post about Dreamscape and the fact that another company is using the name for their own CCG and RPG and they wrote to me asking me to drop the name of my game. I'm not so stuck on the name Dreamscape that I am necessarily going to be funny about it, especially if they make a reasonable offer. So look above for a poll on the new name suggestions - or suggest one of your own.

As no-one has voted, I'll suggest Dreamhunters. I might go with that. Have to google it, just in case....

Still not much activity here.

How about Dreamknights? or Soulknights?

Cheers

Its a tough call, Simon. Dreamscape was a Dennis Quaid movie as well as the new game, but the feel of the name worked well with the game you put together. Your suggestions for replacement just aren't as good - that's not a criticism...I can't think of anything better either. There's only so many ways that you can use "dream" relevently.

You don't want Dream Warriors, as that was one of the Nightmare on Elm Street films. Although the normal personality/dream personality vibe used in that particular film does echo your game.

A pity that Phantasm has already been used. That might have worked. Phantasm = dreamworld, Phantoms = dreamers.

Dream Weavers? Take a riff off of Clive Barker's Weaveworld. Dreamworld is "The Tapestry of Dream". Characters are 'Weavers" that deal with the various "threads" of dream that make up the weave?

Dark Dreamers? Eh. Doesn't quite fit.

What about "Dreamstate"? Dual meaning - could be what the realm of Dream is called, as well as the physical/mental "state" of actually dreaming.

Dunno. There's some feedback, anyway.

Cheers Matt - you are right, none are as good a fit as the original title. Yes, I have seen the Dennis Quaid movie, which I suppose is where the title came from, although the game is more inspired by the Night Warriors books of Graham Masterton (although my game has now moved a bit further away from those too).

The only reason for changing the name was another game Co. wanting to use it for their CCG & RPG. I don't really want to enter into any sort of legal battle over who has the right to the name (especially as the owners would probably actually be the movie company!).

There are other choices but Dreamweaver is quite a good shout.

I think I'll narrow it down to

Dreamknights, Dreamspace, Dreamweaver or Dreamsphere.

Personally.....

I personally like Dreamsphere it has a much more curious appeal to me. It just sounds like some kind of different world or something. Mainly because dream gives you a sense of wonder and sphere is a prefect shape.

then again. I could be babblering.

Dreamscape is now DreamKnights.

Look out for DreamKnights at RPGNOW in the spring.

Where can I find people who want to start a home
