If we push it into December I might manage to do my fake one and a real one!

"That is not SLEEP which can eternal lie, And with strange competitions even sleep may die"

I am also back from my slumber and I am ready to participate!

I am looking forward for this competition and I am happy to make/donate a poster, banner and whatever we need to spread the word. I would love to include one of the monkeys on it, as it is somehow of a mascot of 1km1kt. If Mr. DR. Lang won't have time to create a new one, I can always re-cycle and tweak one of the old ones...

What would we like on the poster?
I have to say, I dig the idea of extra restrictions (good things come in small packages for example).

I don't know if this is going to get done this year, so I'm planning on actually hosting two competitions with the same theme (probably "Go Big or Go Home!" as discussed here):

A 24-hour competition. One person. No art or graphics, though fancy typesetting or fonts are okay (so long as fonts are used legally). Should be SFW and freely licensed.

A 72-hour competition with either individuals or teams of up to three. Anything goes here, so long as it's an analogue tabletop game and it's SFW and freely available (rules must be freely licensed). Art not made by the team must be in the public domain. (CC-0 or due to age/being made by a government that doesn't hold IP rights/etc.)

There'd be a $15 reward for each (I'd make the second larger, but I don't want the reward for the former to be too small and I'm poor). Entries would be accepted beginning January 1st. The 24-hour contest would end on January 10th (midnight author's time), and the 72-hour contest would end on the 19th (midnight team's time).

Games are scored on four categories and must pass three checks to win:

Playability
Theme
Visual Appeal
Interesting Elements (unique mechanics, story elements, etc.)

Games should also be:
Licensed freely (CC-BY, CC-0, OGL, or equivalent—I don't like the -NC or -SA CC licenses' copyleftism, but I will allow it)
Safe for Work (of course, they're games, so that's relative, but you get my drift)
Completed in time and by an appropriate number of participants (24 hours/1 person, or 72 hours/1-3 people).

I made a model game for the 24-hour competition to go with The Inky Depths, which is the model for the 72-hour competition. Wreck Racers is inspired heavily by a number of action movies (Mad Max and the Terminator mostly, but there are references and nods here and there), and is a very rules-light RPG (aren't all 24-hour games?) focused on a d6 mechanic that encourages risk aversion.

The Loreshapers Tabletop Game Design Contest, sponsored by Stuffer Shack, is about making fun tabletop roleplaying games for the masses. The contest has two parts, a 24-hour game component and a 72-hour game component. Stuffer Shack is providing a $10 Amazon, DriveThruRPG, or Stuffer Shack gift card as a reward for the winner in the 24-hour game category, and a $30 Amazon, DriveThruRPG, or Stuffer Shack gift card for the creator(s) of the winning 72-hour game.

The official theme will be announced here in the comments, as well as on the Loreshapers website, on January 1st, and the contest ends on January 10th for the 24-hour game component and January 19th for the 72-hour game component.

The official contest announcement, with more details, can be found at:

I'm a bit confused... is this ONE competition, that was first initiated by you, kylesgames (Kyle?), then taken up by loreshapers?

Whoops, my bad, now I understand this totally complicated scheme of you just creating a site to host the competition... Sorry...

Yeah, basically what happened is that I shot an e-mail over to Chris Stevens at Stuffer Shack and the next thing I knew he shot back with an offer to sponsor the competition. It's not meant to replace the 1km1kt one, simply to add to it (I kinda enjoy seeing a ton of interesting games). The 72-hour part is actually a little more interesting for me, and I'm mostly running the 24-hour one because I'm not sure if we'll see a 1km1kt competition this year.

Sweet! The 72-hour contest looks rather interesting to me. Any prospective collaborators? I'm pretty good with world background and flavor text, but I suck at layout.
