Jeff Moore issued a challenge via the Yahoo! 24-Hour RPG group: to create a game in 24 hours that allows rich, long-playing solitaire adventure. I decided to accept that challenge, since I've been wanting to do a roguelike tabletop dungoen crawl for a while.
I didn't quite make it. The game, , started out a little more complicated than it should have, and I realized it was going to be an 80+ page PDF. No way that could be finished in 24 hours.
So I cut. A lot. Stripped out the character classes/races for this edition. Dropped a lot of magic complexity. Left out a few rules for conflict resolution. Left out detail for a lot of magical effects, beasts, humanoid menaces, and the like. Left out plans for having different Domain types.
I still went over the limit. It took 29 hours instead of 24. But I uploaded it anyway, just to see what people think.
I haven't had a chance to play it myself, yet, but that should be easy enough to do. That's the beauty of a solitaire game! Anyone else want to give it a try?
