The Challenge

So begins the First Frontier Biquarterly 24 hour Challenge!

That's right boys and girls, Biquartery! Once every 4 months Frontier will sponsor a Challenge based upon the game. Each winner will see their submission risen up in glory as a Frontier Officially stamped Expansion. They will also receive a free copy of the first run of The Frontier Guidebook.

Now is when you say "What in the world is Frontier and why would I want to sign up for their silly contest?"

To which we will happily reply:

Frontier is a new RPG based on the concept that Role-Playing games are and should be expanded by the people who play it and have hand in controlling its design destiny. Frontier is built upon the design principle of creating a set of rules in which players can take any setting they wish that is already designed, or create their own, and not run into large inconsistencies of rules.

Now this is when you say "What's so different from that and any other generic RPG rules?"

Our response is simple. Multi-purpose rpg's are great foundations for creating your own game, such as FUDGE, Gurps, and Fusion, but where they really lack is the amount of tweaking generally required to make all the different aspects of diiferent genres blend and work together.

The goal within Frontier is to actually eliminate that tweaking by making a foundation of rules that is complete and purposefully designed to blend together seamlessly to eliminate that need. Then should we create a new genre setting it will also include the new rules to expand the main guide book and tested for seamlessness before release.

Now that the background is out of the way, now on to the contest.

Frontier settings are based upon a principle known as the Gameverse, in essence a universe of infinite possibilities where all styles of games are possible. Be it science fiction, fantasy, or science-fantasy, each has its own place within the Gameverse. None better or worse than the other but all enhancing the whole.

The Challenge:

To create the first player inspired setting within the Gameverse!

The Requirements:

The setting must be unique, designed from scratch by the contestant.

The setting can not be complete. The reason for this that each Gameverse setting is designed to be a foundation that future players can expand on with their own adventures.

Consistency, the setting can not contradict known Gameverse facts. A good example of this would be saying that Vampires do not exist within the Frontier Game. Remember our goal is to provide infinite possibilities. If your setting does not include simply leave them out but remember it is a possibility someone may add them in for their own adventure later.

Artwork,

Not a requirement but can definitely gain you Kudo and Flavor points.

The Rules of the Challenge:

Each contestant will have one week in which to familiarize themselves with the Gameverse. They can do this by joining the Frontier forum located at...

as well as the Frontier Wiki located at...

During this week contestants will be allowed to badger the Designers either through the forum or e-mail in regards to confirmation of rules, consistency and general oddness.

The week will begin on: Frinday November 10th and end on Friday November 17th at midnite

After the research week contestants will then have one 24 hour period of their choosing to create their setting to be submitted on November 25th, I'm making it a birthday present to myself.

Preferably contestants would post on the forum their official start and ending times so we have a means of timing their creation.

Winner will be announced New Years Day to help start off a great new year!

Contestants will also have full access to the Frontier and Wiki to post their work so that others can follow their progress or simply as a place to keep their work somewhere.

Just remember the judging will be tough but fair as your judges have a combined total of almost 50 years gaming experience and have some credits to their names in regards to playtesting and design in the industry. Winners will then be allowed the option of being future judges.

Good luck and may the best Frontiersman win!

End Transmission:::
