Ok, I was gonna create the worlds first Test Cricket RPG, based on the 1948 Ashes Test series between England vs Australia (the latter team captained by Sir Don Bradman and called the 'Invincibles). You can see that 'Cricket' and 'Invicibles' fits into the mix very nicely, just leaving companion or wine to squeeze in there somewhere. However, after a few false starts, I decided I might have to lay that one to rest for now (especially as our cousind from across the water won't have a clue about cricket!).

So instead I present the tentatively titled

Kids in The Hood

“When they tried getting me into a gang, I just told them ‘No. I have
other things I got to do.’”
—Doug Boyd
“If it wasn’t for sports, some of us would probably be in gangs.”
— Archie Robinson
“As soon as I slacked, it was over...I knew it was impossible to come up out
of that gunk. So I never let myself get bogged down.”
— Armando Basulto

All over 1990's America, kids grow up in neighborhoods plagued by drugs and street gangs. Often, parents are not available to guide and protect. Some youngsters will end up in prison, or as victims of gang violence. Others will waste their lives using and selling drugs in the streets. Many will die. But in the midst of the poorest neighborhoods, some kids catch a glimpse of a world that lies beyond gang colors and street drugs. Refusing to put their
future at risk, they take control of their lives. They combine willpower, education, and community resources to survive and succeed. Let’s call them the "Invincibles."
Who are the "Invincibles"? How are they different? Do they possess a secret, something special that most kids don’t have? The answer is “No!”
The Invincibles paints sensitive portraits of young men who try to make a difference in their own lives and drag themselves out of the mire. These are the player characters, whi will try to resolve their problems and realize their dreams as living proof that people can survive and succeed despite the pressures of their neighborhoods and barrios. Each path is different but the message is clear: Yes! There is a way, but...you must go out and find it. These streetwise kids turn to parents, teachers, coaches, community organizers, and police officers, to help them overcome the burdens of a broken family, or walk away from the dangers of street life.
The "Invincibles" are self-reliant.
The "Invincibles" are disciplined.
The "Invincibles" are realistic—they have lived through it all.

So using the Invincibles, we have some street kids who want to make something of themselves.
Companion will be someone the kid can turn to, if he needs help - a sort of conscience and guide to put him on the right path.
Wine will represent all those things that might tempt the kid or the kid is trying to escape from - alcohol or drug abuse, street crime, violence and the rest of it.

That's it so far, but at least I've got a start at last!

pity about the cricket, mate. Would have been good to see a game where Aussies were guarenteed to win... ;)

Oh, and a bit of the Outsiders is a rather neat game concept. Looks interesting! 8)
