My game has quite a lot of cards - and I expect that some of the other games will have the same feature. But how on Earth do we deal with them all? I despair at the thought of scanning in hundreds of hand scribbled cards (at less than 5Mb!) but I have no idea what else to do. I have tried to search for free applications that can do this well, but so far with no success.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Mine are just openoffice draw objects - rectangles with some plainly formatted text in them.
I figure there's plenty of time to do fancy ones if I want to make a nicer version after the contest is over.
I also found some quite cool copyright-free clipart insects at (you need to trawl through the "animals" category). They may yet make it into the game chef entry, if I have enough time over the weekend...

For my submission I used the Avery business card template in Word. It sets up a table with the appropriate sized cards for text and/or graphics. If you go this route, add a border to the table cells for screen visibility (it won't matter when you run the cards, but helps when looking at a file).
As noted, Avery stickers of any dimension make a lot of sense, too.
I've also used aerosol spray mount on poster board and affixed photocopied sheets - lots of cutting but good, sturdy cards. If you do this glue your card copy to the shiny side, so you can write notes/symbols/etc. on the writeable side of the posterboard.

OK, here is what I wrote for making cards:
It may not be useful to anyone else. I'm unlikely to even be around this weekend at all to help with it if it doesn't work, so you're probably on your own. If there are problems, though, and you're stuck, send me a private message or an email and if I happen to be anywhere near the Internet during the weekend, I can try to help.
It's a really simple and boneheaded script, though. The only things I can see for problems are dependencies (it requires inkscape and imagemagick) and any customizing that needs to be done.
