1) CREATIVE AND EFFECTIVE INCORPORATION OF RULES (1-10): 8
Feedback:
I feel like the Time was used VERY effectively. But the Ingredients
seem to be a slight miss. But this was a good innovative use of them
all I think.

2) CLARITY (1-10): 7
Feedback:
The rules and editing are top notch. But the rules for assigning
karma can easily be misinterpreted. It is not clear that the maximum
amount is used over the duration of the whole game or if it is
assessed per act or for the overall crisis.

3) COMPLETENESS (1-10):9
Feedback:
I think the only thing required to consider this "complete" is
double-checking the copyrights for the awesome graphics and a karma
scoring example.

4) ESTIMATED EFFECTIVENESS IN PLAY (1-10): 7
Feedback:
Working out the karma scoring and it is done.

5) SWING VOTE (1-10): 8
Final Feedback:
This game has lots of cool factor. The presentation, editing, play
style. The only two things I see as a real concern would be copyright
holders checking and the niche aspect of the game. I think this is a
cool game. I am not sure what the replay value is or how wide the
appeal would be. Good game!

TOTAL SCORE (add items 1 through 5, above): 39

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the review and pointing out that my karma scoring section was vague. Joshua pointed out something similar so it certainly seems that some clarification is in order there on multiple counts. Each player keeps their own running tally of what their maximum karma is and it's scope is the entire game. The intent is that as things move toward the last session, people will be given incentive to create actions which lie more and more along the extremes of positive and negative karma (however each player defines that) and that doing so will be harder and harder to do.

Thank you for pointing out the copyright issues as well. The image used for the cover is a modification of an image originally published in 1878:

The other images in the interior are from a book first published in 1874:

Another published in 1897:

Also, Dick Sands the Boy Captain, by Jules Verne - the illustrated version from 1879. (can't find a good link at present but it's the image on page 9)

And, finally, Century Magazine from 1896.

As a result of those publish dates, according to the following they are all firmly in the public domain:

I will make sure to source them better in any revision that I do.

REVIEWER NAME: Joe J Prince

1) CREATIVE AND EFFECTIVE INCORPORATION OF RULES (1-10): 3
Feedback: Glass and ancient seem contrived, committee used well. Time seems arbitrary.

2) CLARITY (1-10): 5
Feedback: No page numbers, I found the rules difficult to follow in places.

3) COMPLETENESS (1-10): 6
Feedback: Not much needed to make it publishable.

4) ESTIMATED EFFECTIVENESS IN PLAY (1-10): 7
Feedback: Should work well, but it’s a bit dull for committee members.

5) SWING VOTE (1-10) : 9
Final Feedback: Great cover, great concept, I’d like to play this, but perhaps not for ten hours!

TOTAL SCORE (add items 1 through 5, above): 30

Sorry I've not had time to do a more in depth review. It's probably a blessing in disguise.

cheers,
Joe
