As relayed on the Gamechef mailing list!

====================
After counting all the votes we recieved (90+% of the eligible voters), a winner has been decided. As you remember, everyone eligible to vote got two votes for two different games. The spread was very interesting, with many of the entries squaring off in the end. I had to do a recount just to make sure that the numbers were right!

Anyway, "First Place" for the 2006 Game Chef Awards goes to:

Crime and Punishment by Moyra Turkington, with 12 total votes.

Congratulations Moyra!

"Second Place", with 9 votes, goes to:

Liquid Crystal by Ashok Desai

"Third Place", with 8 total votes, was a tie between:

Time Traitor by Brian Hollenbeck
and
Merryweather by Kevin Allen

Best feedback award went to Graham Wallmsley, or as one entrant wrote "GRAHAM FUCKING WALLMSLEY". :-)
I lost count of Graham's votes, he had so many. After him, it's a tie off between:
Jessica Hammer ("Kleenstar")
Joshua Bishop-Roby
Iggy Cheng
The above four people will be getting a copy of Sandy Antunes' charity publishing of the Top Eight entries*

Other props for feedback (two or more votes) go to James Brown, Kevin Allen, Ashok Desai, Jason Morningstar, Destriarch and Kenji Baugham.

Congratulations everyone... but your work isn't done! Now it's time to take a good look at your game: If you have something that you'd like to share with others, and most entries were excellent, now start thinking about polishing up your game, and eventually publishing it!

Feel free to grandstand and shout!

Thanks again!

-Andy

* The folks in the top eight, Sandy or I will be contacting you in the next few days to get your approval for submitting your game to this charity publication; you'll have a month in case you want to do more work, revise, etc.

Well, I'm happy with second place :) Not bad for a first time entrant. I've not actually read Crime and Punishment yet, but I guessed from the responses it was getting on these boards that it was going to win. Wish I'd laid down a bet on it now.

Congrats to Moyra on the win, looking forward to seeing the printed edition.

Ash,

That's funny, because Mo was telling me she thought Liquid Crystal was going to win.

Congrats to all the finalists, these are some rocking games.

Excellent - Mo won even though I didn't get to vote for her. Yay!

And third place is good enough for me - I vowed to rewrite and expand the game if I placed, and so now it'll happen.

Watch the skies.

Yeah, but all the REST of us knew Mo was going to win. :)

Congrats, folks!

Many congratulations, Moyra. Do you want the Golden Spatula now or later?

Kudos to everyone in the winner's circle!

Thanks everybody!

Mischa...

You mean the Golden Spatula is an actual physical award?
I thought it was merely a thing of legend!

Awesome! My vote had a visible effect. This contest is the best.

Is there an update on the collected reviews being sent out?
