Work In Progress - Pitlifter - Complete!

The Pitlifter is the name I've given to something I've not really had a name for. The Pitlifter performs the job of taking people and goods from the surface up to orbit and back. The Pitlifter is not light jump capable and is massive. The cylinders are where the crates go and people/vehicles go in 'the blade' at the front. The rest are grav plates (at the back) and engines. The grav plate fans are designed to slide together when docked in a Mex city.

Here's the WIP image. I've started work on the surfacing of the front bit, need to do some more image maps and might break the bump map up a bit.

The Clydesdale horse of the far future. Very nice indeed.

I like the Pitpony analogy. Do you take a Cydesdale horse on your commute to Uni? ;)

And here is the completed model. The purple inner is growing on me but might end up dark metal when I render for the equipment index. Click for a biggy.

She's very pretty!

She must be brand new off the production line! I imagine the rest of her sister fleet are rusty old buckets, working hard all day, unloved, exploited and under appreciated. :(

You raise an interesting point. The renders I do for the equipment index are objects as they are 'new'. As if you were looking at a catalogue as a buyer. When I put them into the scene, I dirty the models over, make them rusty, dusty and filthy. I'm going to add in the background that a colony's Pitlifters can be used as a indicator to how proud the colony is. If the Pitlifters are clean and in a good state of repair then the colony is proud. If the colony is struggling then the Pitlifters won't be in a good state of repair.
