Download Icar Version 4 Alpha.
Version 4 is here!
It's taken me ages but I have something worth reading. No doubt some people reading this would like to give some feedback and I would love that. However, there are some things I know to be wrong so there's no need to worry about the following:
Stuff I know to be incomplete or wrong
  • Anything in the Appendix (including loads of GM stuff)
  • Loads of missing diagrams and pictures
  • Anywhere you see XXXXXXXXXXXXX means that I need to put a reference in.
  • Missing Index
  • Big blank spaces

Generally speaking, I would like you to give feedback on the content of the words. Is there anything poorly explained or badly explained? Is there anything missing?

well i'd like to give you some feedback Rob, but Google Documents wont let me download it. keeps flashing their "the file is to large for us to scan..." and when you hit Download any way it go's back to "the file is to large to scan..."
if i'm not the only one haveing this problem it may limit your feedback!

Wow, my first ever Google fail! Thank you for the tip, I have uploaded it to: http://www.maison-de-stuff.net/rob/icar/icarv4a.pdf

A slower but more reliable host! :)

Werdly, you can download it from Google if you hit 'print' as it then downloads it. If you just hit download, it doesn't always work. Nevermind, I'll be leaving both links up there for now.

I'm starting to read the Alfa Version.

So far, so good. The text is easy to read and understand, I like very much the disposition of the topics. The only thing I have to say now is: Thanks for removing the triangles, circles and squeares from the discs!

I will continue reading in my little free time to give useful feed back!

Maledictus, thank you very much for wading in. There is a lot to read (about 100k words last count)!

It was a hard decision to get rid of the triangles, circles and squares but in the end it did not add much to the game except individuality and a barrier to those wishing to learn.

Which reminds me... please note that there will be a new equipment index coming too ... it needs to have a lot of triangles, circles and squares removed from it! ;)

Another comment made by a long time player (Dwain - come on, get yourself an account!) was that the different sections (Background, Bionics, GM, Scav Setting) needed bigger section identifiers. I checked a few other games on my shelf and I was thinking of doing a full-page image for each one. Is that too much space? Perhaps have a little overset text on top of an image?

I think Dwain is right and the main section should have a little more but I am not sure what form that should take just yet. Any thoughts?

One page for the GM section would be nice, but little images and titles are fine for the rest, I think.

I have to agree that you should make bigger identifiers, I not always was aware that I was reading a new chapter. A full page picture would look really nice, perhaps with the tittle of the chapter in some part of it.
