So I've just buckled down and done some more graphics. Sometimes it's better to stop whinging about not being able to do something and just do it. Here are the new pages. They are a bit big and I'll be filling out the text/making pretty some more but you'll get the idea.

Scavenger Colony Tech

Scavenger Zero-G Technology

Oh and ignore the "Gamesmaster" section heading on the side. That's a document link that get sorted out on the final draft once all the graphics are in and the text is settled down. Not a big job to do but not really needed just yet.

This is cool, are you hand drawing these or are you using some kind of rendering software (and if so, what is it)?

Thank you!

I am using and tracing over bitmaps. For the bitmaps, I roughly hack images together from Google images/flickr and choose different body parts from each. I have a cheapo pen tablet thing (Wacom Bamboo, was £40 but that was ages ago and in a PC World sale) to draw the lines in.

The gun was rendered the same I do with all the other renders. The dodgy looking bits (like the flux cable the Colony Tech is carry) is drawn freehand. I try to keep it rough (it hurts me to do so) because if you tidy it up too much then it never really looks right.

Dang, I've never been able to get the hang of inkscape, my brain must be wired wrong for it. It's good example art. I'm torn on if I'd rather see it colored or not.

The rules are black and white, so three-tone is about as far as I can go and stay minimal detail. I tried to put more detail on and it starts looking like bad art. This is because they are traces of jpg mashups and I am not good enough at drawing to work out what the detail should look like given the mashups.

Depending on what your goals are, you may want to mix a little with Joseph Hewitt and the guys over at GearHead. They might be willing to revise/color them if they could use them as portraits for characters in-game.

@kylesgames, that's cool! I want to keep the art homespun for the moment because I can replace it and it will all look like it was done together - which is why I don't want to hire anyone to do any of it! And I enjoy it - when it works for me.
