Cyberpunk is dead. We want to save her! Bring her back.Post your thought, ideas, works in process design documents and anything about the project in here! The competition closed for entries at the end of June 2010.
Hi, everyone! This is my first post on these forums as well, but I figured it would be a great opportunity to finally join, because I love me some free rpgs. I have actually already been working on a Cyberpunk RPG, so naturally I will be participating in this contest. It seems like great fun! I love cyberpunk and can't wait to see all the great games that come out of it.
I'm in too. I'm actually working on a homebrew engine myself, and I have a question: Should I write it just as a supplement to the core rules, or should I include mechanics as well?
The rules do not disallow writing only setting versus rules and fluff in one document. At one point we were considering making this entirely about appending existing open systems (like YAGS or FUDGE).
At least some of the participants are creating new systems from scratch, or at least modifying ones they have.
Personally, I'd prefer to see complete games. Its a bit difficult to fairly judge when half the people are making one thing, and half another. For that matter, is kind of outside the the spirit of a 30 pages maximum if its an addendum to a 110 page main book. How long is your rule set? Altering it a bit to fit the genre can't hurt anyway.
Ok, this is Jason throwing his hat into the ring. Its been a long time since I wrote Karbon, and I have evolved in gaming (or I''d like to think so) and I have some new ideas to bring to the table!
So far its looking like it will be called Truth, Inc. (yes, a play on a PKD title), where a single large megacorp of the same name dominates the world. This company makes Proclamations that are always true (or are they!) and the drama of the game centers around their corporate antics in a distant future that looks perfect on the surface, but is a thickly-veiled dystopia.
30 pages! There's no way I can fit a complete sourcebook into 30-!
Ah, just a setting, I see...
Well, I had designs on making an RPG for my webcomic before now, and hell, they're both cyberpunk settings, so this ain't a bad way to get the feet wet. 30 pages would make a nice freebie sampler for the real thing if I can condense it properly anyway.
Just registered for this place so I remember to come back later and work on it. Ought to work...
Greetings. First Post. Love the website. We'll take a crack at this whole 'TechnoRebel' thing. We'd love to write it up as a HERO setting, but there's that whole 30 page thing and beggars and choosers. Ah well. Maybe later. Not high chances I'll actually get anything submitted by June anyway, but we'll see what we can do. Who knows?
If this contest inspires you to write an epic 500 page hardback book, awesome! The 30 page limit is to encourage people to enter, to decrease the intimidation factor. To allow super busy workaholics a goal they can jam into their hectic real lives. Welcome to 1km1kt your welcome here. I hope you enjoy it as much a I.
Just found out that I'm getting paid for my work with a commercially-produced RPG. I'll still finish my and submit my submission project, but won't submit for the contest, just for players.
