Totally Spacemouse!

I would love to see some Finnish cyberpunk. You see some French stuff, especially in comics and movies, Enki Bilal, Renaisance, Chrysalis, etc. And sometimes you can find some German cyberpunk, but not Finnish. And Finnish people are notoriously computer literate. When my friend came over and we watched Gandahar with the original French dialog, my friend asked me, "Where did you get this? Finnish data pirates?" And I did! I have seen P2P groups with enough Finns to populate a town, all swapping files back and forth, thousands of people!

Finns seem to like to share music and movies, but my thing is old comic books, like how else am I ever going to read 1950s Bob Hope comics (and they're hilarious)? Even if I could find Action Comics #1, it would cost me hundreds of thousands of dollars to buy it, so if I want to read the first Superman comic, finding a scan is the only way.

Once when I was on the comic sharing network I saw that someone was sharing a rar file of all the entries for the Game Chef competition a few years ago. Thinking about that, I imagine that a few years from now, someone will download an archive of the 2010 Cyberpunk CPR contest, and the person downloading it will have never been to this site, so they'll wonder, "Why do all these cyberpunk games with very different settings all have someone named Keeton in them, and they use a lot of the same names for companies and products?"

I look forward to leaving amusing mysteries for the people of the future.

Isn't that how Thor went from being some Norwegian bloke infamous for his flatulence to become the hammer-toting Avenger?

I will now look at all of the puns and in-jokes I put into Midian not as bad humour, but instead as little time capsule mysteries.

I would be honoured if this little contest became shred over p2p in the future.

Groovy competition.
I'm in!

I was thinking, with Eclipse Phase, Mindjammer, Cyberpunk, Cthulutech, Shadowrun etc the bases are pretty much covered.
Then I had an idea!

Now I'm hoping no one else has had it!

Quick rules question.

Can we use alternate settings as the background to our Cyberpunk setting?
For instance, could the Nazi's have won the war with cybertech and things progressed from there.
(Oooh, that's not a bad idea...)
or do we have to assume the future starts from the point we are at now?

Counterfactual History Cyberpunk seems like a fine idea to me.
Besides, fighting Nazis adds to any setting, just ask Indiana Jones.

Alright, I'll admit it to both you and myself, I'm in, but I won't be doing much on it until my current design project is out of the way. I did dig up my old notes towards making an updated cyberpunk game, and here's what you can expect:

- a custom system, purpose-built to cyberpunk themes
- something pretty close to the page limit, and yet likely having a setting no larger than a neighbourhood (I'd rather do a small setting well than a whole world poorly)
- I'd give more details, but it rapidly turns into a rant. I'll start a thread when I can write more calmly.
