STORY:

The basic idea behind this setting is that the internet brought forth free knowledge to all people and with the rise of open Source software (and RPGS :) ) Money grew increasingly less important to society as their news, knowledge, and entertainment were now free.

Eventually the currently unnamed corporation that lead these movements began opening offices in most of the worlds largest cities becoming the worlds largest employer. Soon the officers grew to include entire cities under the corporate leadership.

The corporation began to involve a new policy that started to supply citizens under their control everything that they needed to survive as long as they worked towards the corporation's idea towards one peaceful world.

Now, most of the worlds population has realized that life outside the corporate walls is harsh and unforgiving. They have moved to corporation walls and were welcomed with open arms. The corporation knew that any citizen who volunteers to assist in the betterment of mankind would be a great asset to them.

Outside the cities of Corporate control, the world goes on much like today. People fight over money and food as they all try to triumph by trampling everyone else. In theory, they still follow the leadership of their countries rulers, but in practice the government lack the manpower for control.

The players can take one of a number of roles in the new singular world.

The first is the Good Citizen. These players work a 9 to 5 job and are allowed to live a happy with everything they need. These characters may be forced to traverse the Wastes on work or even simply for life reasons.

The second is to become a wastelander and fight for your survival. You will need to work for others in order to get the money, food and supplies you need to live.

The final primary group intended and the most likely for PC control is that of a freedom fighter. These people work for the Corporation but still believe that their freedom has been taken away. They will work towards freeing the world without trying to lose their job or their lives.

Tech:
The corporation has always believed that a happy citizen is an effective one, and as such does everything they can to give the citizens what they want. Many citizens were unhappy with their bodies and so the corporation has begun including Bio Technical Modifications as basic living supplies.

While most replacements look and act just like their fleshy original, some individuals like to use such changes as a way to express themselves. So long as it is neither harmful to the citizen or offensive to the other citizens the corporation tries to accommodate them.

In addition to Bio-Tech every citizen is implanted with a Net Chip directly in their brains. These chips allow a citizen to access the Virtual Web from anywhere. These chips allow Citizens to look up and find information quickly as well as communicate with one another over great distances. Many net sites also include forms of entertainment such as television and games.

The online world will take place in an entirely virtual environment that can mimic the real world or become as crazy as the net site designer can imagine. The user will be able to navigate through this world and the real world simultaneously.

While private technology is protected by multiple firewalls, a skilled hacker can enter ANY technological thing and change it. This means that while a hacker is involved in a gun fight with enemies he could hack the buildings lights and knock them out in order to sneak to safety. This also means that a hacker can hack into any character Bio-Tech limbs and disable them for extended periods of time.

Mechanics:
I am working on a custom set of mechanics for the game, though I think it'll be a standard skill roll vs. difficulty.

Because of the lack of money in corporate control, the game will also include an Item Requisition system that will allow the corporation to determine whether a citizen can receive supplies that are not directly relevant to their work.

I like the dual-world set up, but at least from what you have posted (which is quite admittedly not the final product), the freedom fighters could use some more development. What has this unnamed corportation done that can be perceived as restricting a person's freedom? Is the corporation itself like Moore's Utopia, where the society itself (not the individual) holds money in order to interact with the outside world?

As stated above, this isn't your final product, but I have to wonder: with all that punk where is the cyber?
