That is a very interesting observation about the difference between roll over and roll under systems and their thematic impact. I might have to use that somehow - perhaps in a PC vs NPC or standard vs transmog concept.
I'll also agree that JAGS is way to clunky. I understand the problem they're trying to address, but they seem to have taken the most difficult route to do so. Plus of course, they're characters, not the great celestial wheels of order and chaos - they don't have to be in balance.
Which brings up "Cyber-psychosis" from CP-2020 (and essence loss from Shadowrun) - a rather inelegant balancing mechanism to of-set the sheer power of augmentations. Little bearing on reality (grandma got a pacemaker, now she's evil!)
Since you're discussing dualities and future shock as some of your defining elements - you think sanity/coping skills or reactionary vs futurist pairs might come into play? How about - ie if you can't prevent them from having cameras - have one of your own for the counter-argument. ()
I'll have to admit that most of my knowledge about Finland is limited to "The continuation war" and the origin of the Molotov cocktail. What laws or attitudes do you think separate that area from the usual Japan/US setting. Climate should account for something - you don't stop to chat in -5 degree weather.

I'm looking forwards to seeing how you put the focus on homelessness and the many issues surrounding that. Do mobile phone bills cost so much money that people can't afford rent?

Heh... I'm thinking more about things like felony disfranchisement - society itself acting downright hostile towards its members. In a post-recession world, faced with an aging populace, the government makes a series of subtle moves the end result of which is to require everyone to turn a profit. [/quote]
With that statement you've just helped my brain cement a loose concept that's been floating around in there. I wonder how many entries will share large chunks of the same concept, even if they are from a different perspective?
Probably most...
