Okay, It's always possible to pull off a lucky roll. Also remember that you are not alone. You can pull in help.

The Warrior touches the side of his helmet, there is no discernible button the pressure from his fingers alter the conductivity of the Carbon Ceramic Composite (CCC) his helmet is made of and triggers his radio.

(In Chezbah) "Father, I have found one."

The Priest excuses himself from the conversation and walks toward you. The Capt and the diplomats follow. As he approaches the Warrior points to Aburakoji and says "That one."

The Priest walks up to him and says "Youkoso irasshai mashita. Ogenki desuka?"

Aburakoji answers "Watashi wa genki desu."

The Priest asks "Namae wa nandesu ka?"

Aburakoji says "Watashi no namae wa Aburakoji"

The priest says (in Chezbah) "He has no accent, he is from Earth." and then "Gomenasai." bows slightly and walks back to the diplomats but continues to watch the inspection.

The Warrior checks out the vehicles and and you notice that the Priest is paying more attention to him now. Occasionally the Warrior notices something in the equipment and goes to pick it up. Nearly simultaneously the Priest shakes his head and without looking up at the priest the Warrior stops.

After the Warrior is satisfied that the inspection is complete, the Priest thanks the Diplomats. Then walks over to Edward and says (in Chezbah) "Thank you for your help. You spoke Chezbah very well. It is good that you have come."

Any response?

Edward will answer politely, and thank the priest for his compliment.

The Priest replies "Perhaps we will speak later when the time is right." He turns to leave and motions that the Warrior should follow. The Warrior of course complies.

The Captain and one of the diplomats approaches and asks what the priest said to you. (You can reply, I'm just going to explain some more of what goes on).

The Demolisher lands again and the Priest and the Warrior get back in.

The Captain radios, "Okay, they're going to escort us the rest of the way in."

The Demolisher skims the surface of the ground in front of the convoy. The instructions are to follow it.

40 Km into Chezbah territory the lights come on as you enter each hex and then turn off again when the convoy is through. Although the Agri-Hexes still look like desserts you can now see from one end to the other. The condition of the Hexes (Especially the roads) are better but still not perfect. Also, before the convoy had avoided other types of Hexes for fear of a collapsing structure falling on part or all of the convoy, the Chezbah apparently aren't worried about that. You travel through Residential Hexes with thousands of towers for living in, Filtration Hexes with huge pyramids nearly two Km tall both on the ground and hanging from the ceiling, and Industry Hexes with thousands and thousands of grey buildings that house manufacturing robots.

The rest of the trip takes about 9 hours despite being twice as long a distance.

On entering an Agriculture Hex the lights are already on. The convoy will drive over a series of cables laying in front of the doorway of the hex. They extend ten meters into the doorway. They do not impede the vehicle traffic.

The roads in the Agriculture Hex are well cared for. The hex has short scrub plants and ferns growing in it. On either side of the road are small whitewashed adobe huts. It does not appear that anyone is living in these huts. Some of them are filled with what appears to be dried fern fronds.

On the far side of the hex, there is a large amount of movement but it is too hard to make out at a distance.

Anything you want to investigate?

During the long journey, Edward makes extensive notes in his diary. When he gets the chance to speak to Aburakoji, he will attempt to engage him in conversation, and find out what the hell happened.

The chance of Aburakoji being in your transport is one in five also there is a Japanese diplomat that could tell you what was said. Also a one in five chance. We'll stack the deck and say that a 5 or a 6 means they are in your vehicle.

First roll is for Aburakoji the second is for the diplomat.

Okay he's in your transport.

He says he's not sure what happened, he was hoping to ask you. The priest asked him how he was doing. He responded "I'm fine". Then the Priest asked his name and he told him. After that the priest said something to the Warrior that he didn't understand then apologized.

If you're still confused take an IQ roll for Ed.

If you have any more questions, let me know. Chainsaw, feel free to jump in if you have any questions (Busy guy these days).

Partially, its is because I'm busy/sick, and partially I rather chose the wrong character for this scenario. Big dumb muscle that barely speaks English much less runs an analysis of East Asian vs. Xenobiotic languages. And as an over-eager private, he's following instructions to stay in the tank rather than explore the new world. I'll need to keep this in mind when I ask for characters in a D&B play-by-post.

One thing I can do for the time being occurs to me. Most tanks have magnifying optics, (and failing that, I can pop the hatch and use my binoculars) to see if I can make out anything more of that movement in the distance.

I'll also try to take a closer look at the immediate vicinity. Shouldn't we have encountered some of the local residents by now? Would their initial reaction be fear of these odd humans and their tank, or a sense of wonderment about the same and trying to approach?

Sensors: IQ 20 / +15 A success for once.

I don't mind you making the rolls - its a random generator on the computer anyway. I'll just need to remember to update that old post about Zvika's abilities so its clear what his numbers are.
