DONE!

Still trying to look ahead in my calender for a time to schedule in 24 hours of thinking/writing/panicking. The only time that looks likely this side of June is next week, so may have to give it a shot then. It's probably next week or never, this year.

Definitely going to lock in Wall-E and Mars Attacks, at this stage. Should be a fun mix.

"destroying garbage on earth for fun and profit" !!! I hadn't thought of it from that angle yet! That is brilliant! Gives the Keetons (the evil aliens from mars) some reason to attack!

I have a feeling all the Keeton references are going to be about the "villains" of the piece.

Going for it tomorrow. My last day off before life begins again, weather is meant to be crap, and negotiated a day off with my partner. Food and drinks are all prepared. Might watch Wall-E one more time tonight, then take a deep breath and dive in tomorrow morning.

Breakfast - Homemade muesli and yogurt, with some fresh fruit.
Lunch - Salad, with left over bacon from tonight, and what ever veggies I can get from the garden
Dinner - Pasta Dish
Drinks - Start with lots of water, then go onto the energy drinks as tiredness kicks in. Finally a beer or two at the end.
Snacks - Fruit and Snacks.

All prepared and put in little containers in the fridge. Should save an hour or so.

Lots of pens and paper sitting around the computer. Pleanty of Pink Floyd and The Who to be played in the background. Now I just need a good night sleep and we can get under way.

Five minutes until Lift Off! Enough time to quickly check on the latest quake news.

Time to go:
24:00 - We begin!
Starting with a loose chapter plan. So far I've got:
(Intro)
Knitting the Situation
Earth's Enemies
Earth's Heros
Threats and Tasks
On To The Action
Nuclear Music - An Example Adventure

See what I've done there?

23:30
Introduction done.

First distraction - girl friend waking up and talking about Stargate-based dreams.

22:30
Lost piece of paper with some notes on it! What was Buy'N'Large's slogan again? Grrr... Shower time, I guess.

21:00 No luck finding the paper with notes on it. Nearly finished Setting basics. Just need to add a bit more detail about the Martians.

20:54 Keeton included!

20:30 Debating whether to include Martian weaknesses in the general Martian section, or maybe add a GM section in. It's probably needed anyway...

20:00 Lunch. Time to think about Character Creation numbers. Got the rough idea thought up, just need specifics.

19:00 Character Creation done. As well as a rough character sheet. A name for the game is starting to come together.

18:22 Keep on thinking of more things I need to add. So far the list sits at Human Anatomy, Martian Anatomy, Robot Autonomy, and Operation Re-Colonization.

Did I mention I also want to finish this with 9 hours left on the clock, so I can get some sleep tonight? Well, 9 hours left then.

17:00 My rate of progress has decreased. Combat is proving a bit more challenging than I suspected. Hadn't given any thought to wounds or deaths and now it's proving way too deadly (Martian Rayguns - how can they do anything but disintegrate?). Head ache is starting to set in from looking at the screen for too long. Might take a walk and get some fresh air.

16:10 Onto the GM section. I think I've covered all the rules...
Got a bit of work done on formatting, as a break. It's not looking like utter shit now.

14:18 End is nearing. Attached the character sheet in Appendix 3. Got 19 pages so far. Need to probably add another one to deal with Martian Autonomy and Operation Re-Colonization.

13:22 Think I'm done. Going to have dinner, then start proof reading!

12:00 DONE!

Dead on the 12 hour mark, I'm done. Was aiming to be done before 14 hours were up, so I could prepare for work tomorrow, so this works well.

Have submitted and will link here when done.

First RPG I've made, so was definitely an experience. Probably a great way to start, diving straight in for a contest like this.

Was slightly unsure on the Images, but figured if I stuck with Wikimedia and the sites listed in Rob's blog post I should be fine.

I really like the clean layout and choice of colours, and the writing is humorous. It's hard to believe that this is the first RPG you've made!

A question about the example character sheet (pg. 11): you start with 8 points to spend on the three stats, but the sheet's total is 1+2+3+1+2+1=10. Or am I calculating it wrong?

The game's mechanic is light and nicely presented in the Sample Game Play, and I would definitely play it!
