Claustrophobia!

Captains Log, 19 May 2012. The time now is 9:00, we're approaching the Upper Mantle... things are about to get hot in here boys!

Welcome to Claustrophobia!, the game about crazy gnome explorers on board the doomed Nuclear Subterrine*, the sentient vessel HMS Keeton. When standing around in the garden becomes too much, colonies of gnomes turn to a life of adventuring or crime, the later being the preferred, less hazardous change of occupation. For those adventurous gnomes there is but one choice, take up their shovel, wheel barrow or fishing rod and tackle the greatest quest any gnome can undertake: a journey to the center of the earth. Prepare to face hardship, danger, and more than likely extreme cases of Claustrophobia!

You have been warned.

* A subterranean submarine, usually constructed by gnomes out of surplus garden supplies and powered by a home made and somewhat dangerous nuclear power plant.

An intro and two chapters down. Now to introduce Keeton:

“Look Narfumble, I can see you're really upset about this. I honestly think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think things over.”
Words by HMS Keeton to Narfumble, captain of the HMS Keeton XIII before he disengaged the pressure locks with two pencils up his nose and underwear over his head.

Starting my chapter on Gear:

You may have heard about the legendary +1 Shovel. The term was coined for this game about 30 or so year ago, before Claustrophobia! was written, but around the time the awesomeness of gnome-centric adventures were starting to capture the human imagination.

11 O'clock and I'm done with typing down the rules. I'm pretty happy with this simple system that encourages role-playing but still has plenty of dice chucking. This could really turn out to be a fun party game.

Questions
  • Do people play test their games in the 24 hours they have to build it?
  • If so, how?
  • What have I left out, what should I leave out?
  • What would a player get out of playing this game?
  • What would a GM get out of playing this game?
  • Would anyone ever buy this game? Munchkin seems to do pretty well and is based on a simple concept, much like Claustrophobia! is.

Well, it's not finished, so no. Wait till 9 tomorrow 8-)

Just had lunch (ビフ サンド) and have finished the cover. I see the fans are clamoring for more, but please guys, be patient. It's less than 24 hours of waiting.

I'm at work today, but luckily it's a free day for me, so rather than just fill a desk I thought I'd churn out a game. Pretty fun experience really. Thanks guys for organizing this one!

Well, 12 hours and 25 minutes later and I have a complete book. Now all I need to do is edit, edit and edit some more.

Hmmm... pictures would be nice.

And now, lady gnomes and gentle gnomen. As time blurs and bed calls, I proudly present...

Claustrophobia!

The world will never be the same again.

Not bad I think for 15 hours and 5 minutes of work. Now I can sleep till 9.

Edit: updated the link to this site.
