In the canteen; Mym is conversing with an android. Marlena is on a couch in the corner surfing Gaia.

You both hear the loud scraping of metal furniture as the canteen descends into startled silence. A Dark haired man in oil stained overalls (Michael) stands on a table and begins to address the room.

I ask my Automaton friend what it thinks of the speech and if it feels that the speaker is unfairly discriminating against Autos.

The android agrees with the speaker. The humans are being exploited. As far as he is concerned, androids are exploited everywhere. Androids don't mind though.

The speaker inspires a few disgruntled heavys who begin shouting their approval and others begin grunting in assent.

The doors crash open as some security guards rush in and attempt to grapple the speaker.

A kerfuffle ensues.

(What does your characters do?)

Mym tries to up the stakes a little. He tries to hack the lights to turn them off Rolls, gets a 71. Failed.

He then turns to the Auto and says, "You answered well. So if the human is being harmed and he is standing up for his rights, Isn't hauling him off with security guards harming him further? Are you permitted to allow a human to be harmed?" Don't know what skill that would fall under. Know, Systems or AI. Rolled a 58 and so would fail anything but a Automation Know check.

Marlena calmly stands and crosses to the kerfuffle. She wraps her arms around one of the burly corporate security guards.

"Really, darling. He's a gentle kind, really. Don't break him, just help him out... That's right, isn't it Michael? Your bicep is really quite large! You must exercise? Zero G? I thought so..."

I'm not really trying to change the actions of the guards (so no Persuade roll) but just keep the situation a little low key so nothing drastic happens.

Once out in the corridor, Marlena says to the guards...

"He's quite harmless, leave him with me... along with your Isis, darling! TTFN!"

Assuming the guards move off...

"Michael, are you hurt, darling? No? Good. Let's find somewhere quieter to air you ideas... come... this way... there's a dreary cafe with the most drab clientele..."

(Strangely enough, I can't find the number for oration - its a second epoch skill, but I'm not using a skeleton so at the moment it would be negative 6%. While I think of an actual skeleton to use based on the page 118 guidelines, we can probably presume its a little early on to start a general strike)

[When the guards come, Michael gets off the table willingly and puts up his hands palm out at shoulder level]
"Now, now my good men, there is no need to be violent. I know it is but ye unfortunate role to keep the peace, just as it is mine to enrich ye lives. Worry not, there isn't even controversy here - all are in agreement. We are PEOPLE.

Presuming they do start dragging him off
"See this is the VIOLENCE inherent in the SYSTEM!* First they come for the artists, and then for your spirit!"

If not
"Oh, thank ye my dear lady. It is a drab place, I do hope to finish an installation piece for it soon."

The guards are gently calmed by Marlena and seeing Micheal backdown they allow themselves to be gently ushered into the corridor where Marlena leaves them dazed and somewhat slighly bemused.

"Perhaps we should meetup for some rec time, sweetness. Names Geoff, I work shift 4 in sector 5 if you're looking for me." The slightly overweight and mildly odorous security guard whispers cooly to Marlena.

She walks off, kissing the air "TTFN, call me." She then draws a look of utter disgust across her face as she turns back into the room.

"I don't have the cognative upgrades to process your question, however I do know I cannot harm humans or allow humans to come to harm, except when intervention breaks the first rule." the Automaton remarks

The the three of you are standing together in the canteen, not yet dispersed from the most interesting thing to happen on Ittan Orbital Refinery since Dr Andrews locked himself in the reactor room, leading to a lengthy negotiation and eventual bulkhead removal 10 years ago.

You see a sign being posted up next to the door by a scruffy looking spacer.

"Crew required, Immediate start, Imperium Merchant Naval employment credentials not strictly enforced."

Marlena simply wants any way off this drab place. It lacks any kind of society. She has absolutely no idea what she's letting herself in for.

"See there! This could be a lark! Let's go an sign up! Yes, let's! It'll be adventurous. I'm sure your both exceptionally brave..."
