Pocketmod Font Size

Based on feedback from pocketmods I have done in the past, I have been using a font size of 36-40 (50-72 for headings), depending on the font itself. It seems to work, but does tend to limit the amount of information I can put on a page.

What font sizes are others using in their games?

I habitually use small fonts. Sorry, people with poor eyesight, it's not anything I have against you it's just I'm an information pack rat.

I'm not sure how you're measuring those fonts, by pixels? I guess that would make sense since different fonts have differing point sizes.

I'm just not that sophisticated, my text is usually 10 point.

Point-size. I know that the same point-size fonts can still differ in actual size, but I'm lazy (according to my wife, a Graphic Designer who knows what "kerning" means).

If I used point size 72 in most fonts, a single letter would take up one of the pocket mod's pages. Ok, maybe two letters.

I went with 20 pt for body, 36 for headings, prior to PocketMod conversion. The body is readable but small, about 6 pt. It came out to ~1500 words for the PocketMod. If I could trim the content to <1000 words, I'd go with 24 pt or higher. I think 20 pt is acceptable as there still isn't a ton to read - it would be a strain to read thousands of words at that size.

On the character sheet where I wanted to leave room to write, I think I used 48 pt, which came out to about a normal line of college ruled paper in height.

Super Robot Go! is easy to read. You could have gone a tad smaller on the rules but I think the character sheet/robot is the right size - it needs to be that big as it's going to be referenced more often than the text.

This is interesting. It appears that we are talking about two entirely different font standards.

In the US, 72-point font is an inch in height.

I think I have it figured out. GS, are you laying out your page on multiple pages in a PDF and then converting them to pocketmod? If so then it makes perfect sense. Otherwise I'm still lost.

...oh yeah.

That would make sense.

I typically use 14pt font on an A5 page when designing pocketmods (this would translate to about 20pt on an A4 page). It drops down to 7pt font when everything is scaled down to pocketmod pages.

This is about what you'd find on Magic: the Gathering cards. It's less than 12 words per line, so it's pretty readable.
