Forgive me if it's a little early to be making this post, but NaGaDeMon 2013 is only a month away!! Let's try and get some discussion flowing, shall we?
What are you planning to make for NaGaDeMon? Do you have a couple different ideas that you're juggling?
What did you do last year? Did you finish within the set time limit?
Do you plan to make a plan?!? I'd advise that you do!! Mr. Lang's primo guide to planning is all you need to set you straight! You can find it here: http://www.thefreerpgblog.com/search?up ... results=18
In order to stimulate the discussion, I'll answer the above questions as well:
I am planning on putting together some sort of Planet-of-the-Week Sci-Fi RPG for NaGaDemon, though I am also debating on some sort of low-magic Dark Fantasy game. Should I go with the former (which is more likely), it will be soft Sci-Fi (is that what you call the opposite of "hard" Sci-Fi?), in that things like interstellar dog-fights, humanoid aliens, and improbably and, by normal definitions, inefficient technologies will likely exist. I don't imagine the tone being all that serious, though it'll probably reach a middle ground between straight-faced and comedic.
Last year, I worked on a tabletop wargame based on a "fantasy" setting that I had developed. I finished the rules within the time limit and then some, as well as performing a couple playtests. However, I found the results to be unsatisfactory, and I still had the matter of how I would get the product (minis, etc), so I ended up scrapping the idea and never finished.
Lastly, yes, of course I intend to use a plan!! I'm the least organized person you'll ever meet. Without one I'd be doomed.
