If it's true it's Stallman's idea, not mine. :D

To be honest besides the PDF is free, if you want a hard cover here it is at cost method. I think the only other way to go is the online cartoons way. That is, the games free and if you like it here is a donations link..... No one is forced to pay, but there is a way for fans to help support their favorite games.

No shame in letting the willing send you cash to help you keep writing....right?

Absolutely, kumakami!

I think of us (free RPG writers) as a sort of charity. At inception, we are the only people giving into that sort of charity. If you set up so that people can donate then you just letting them adding to the charity. You do not require people to donate - the game is still free - but if they feel drawn to do so, then they can! :)

I've seen this in free software. Some people have an amazon wish list or some such that suggests that if you like the software, then buy something off the wishlist. I did that in one instance because the tool made my life so much easier.

in the end the donations thing falls in place with free Games Idel. Games for the sake of gaming, donations or wish lists grabs are more or less a "High five":D

for the record when Midgard is up for sale, cost or more, I am buying one

that said I am all for the True Fans / Ransome type model personally. Once I find my favorites, Ben and Nigel being one in example, then I am happy to support them.

Conversely I spend no money on those I do not care for, regardless of quality. WOTC comes to mind in this case.

As far as running it as a non-profit, not sure what connotations are implied there, some expansion please?

Time to keep working on my first for sale product.
