American Dad was OK.
Family Guy returns! Yipppeee!
And as far as the Battlestar remake. It's really good. This ain't your Daddy's Galactica. (Or your childhood Galatica, but I'm pleading the 5th on that one.) It's dark and gritty. The mini series will be available on DVD soon.

Ya know, I like the family guy but I just don't understand all the excitement about that toon? I watched ESPN tonight to try and see what is going on in the NBA play offs. The Suns are in the play offs so I'm a little interested.

The Hitch-hikers Guide film comes out this weekend! But I'll be out of town and I wonder if it will be released it the small town I'll be in? I'll keep you all posted.

I think the excitement stems from the fact that the network cancelled the series. Then after fan rantings and incredible DVD sales they decided to bring it back.

Looking towards Hitchhikers Guide, too. But I've seen mixed reviews.

The Bodyguard!! Any of you familiar with Sonny Chiba? If The Bodyguard is any indication he seems to have made films that Bruce Lee wouldn't have made. I got the film at Wal Mart for a dollar and it's worth every cent. It's a martial arts film with gore.

In the opening scene a mafia boss is guned down in New York City. When the shooting's done the boss is coverd with that heavy red paint they would use for blood in films from the 70's. Next, the bodyguard, who's name is Chiba, is on a plane to China. Some assassins attack him on the plane. One second Chiba's in his seat then the scene cuts, there's a scream, and Chiba's standing in the aisle holding the assassin's severed arm.

Originally there were topless scenes in the film. Now the images are scrambled in the area of the ladies' chest. I also found a disk at Wally World with three of Chiba's other films, Street Fighter, Return of the Street Fighter, and Sister Street Fighter. Yeah baby! The later collection's actually titled "Martial Arts Masters" and includes Bruce Lee's Fist of Fury. Hours of cheap ape viewing fun! later, P.B.

On further review, I'd say this film's a Martial Arts sub-genre. There's not much actual fighting. But there are plenty of cut-scenes where the "bad guy" suddenly has a knife in his chest. So I'll just call the genre Martial Arts/Gore.

I picked a couple of the old cheap DVD's at Wally World too. Legend of the 8 Samuri was one of those movies that you might see on very late night TV. Probably one of the worst he's made.
But Sonny Chiba was great in Kill Bill.

I started to mention that Tarantino must be influenced by the Sonny Chiba films. Thanks for the info Grogtard. The last two Tarantino films I've seen are True Romance and Jackie Brown. I'm more a "Fist Full of Dollars" kind of guy than a Tarantino-kind-of-guy.

later, P.B.
