An idea to minimise spam annoyance

Try to use akismet or something like that to identify spam. Works really well on my blog.

Akismet isn't available for this forum software. They've tried to build in that kind of functionality but it isn't really robust at this point.

We could make "kitchen" "wigs" and "Gold" swear word exclusions and have them automatically replaced with "RPG" "dice" and "pencils". The results would be pretty funny.

Please, let's do something already,
I think the amount of spam is more frightening for newcomers than a few extra steps at registration (e.g. posting in a designated topic).

We could use a few more people with moderator power to fight off the spam.

I'll see if I can reach out to some of the mods via alternate channels to take care of the spam.

Sorry, I've been a little busy as of late, but now I'm stuck under several feet of snow, so I killed about thirty kitchens. We need at least a basic captcha system - all of these were one off posts and not a single name I could just ban to stop it all.
