Cool new games I might have missed

Postby vulpinoid » Wed Jan 30, 2013 8:07 pm

Tell me about a great new game, something that's come out in that last year or two.

Something that you might have designed, or something that you really like, that's been designed by someone else.

Don't tell me Apocalypse World, or any of it's variants...

(a line or two of description is good, a reason why you like it is better, a link is better still.)

I really like this game called Apoc....oh, wait.

The game that impressed me the most over the past few years is Do: Pilgrims of the Flying Temple. I like that it uses linguistic rules in combination with phrases based on the adventure scenarios to create play. It's a totally different way to construct adventures than the traditional map or written, branching story. You can find it here:

I'll second on Do (disclaimer, I reviewed it and got a copy free). It's absolutely amazing, despite (or perhaps because) of the fact that it is designed for kids but still has a remarkable genius behind it.

I was a bit annoyed that I missed out on the Kickstarter for Do...now, the unenviable challenge of trying to find it at one of the local gaming stores.

It is available in print! I bought mine from a local store called Hairy Tarantula. Fortunately, Do is carried by distributors.
