Explaining rules in the form of a comic

Postby vulpinoid » Thu Jan 09, 2014 5:12 am

I haven't been deliberately concealing this, but I haven't really been advertising it either...it's a bit of a private experiment for those who are interested in my work.

Walkabout is being presented as a rule set in a number of ways. One of those ways is a manga-style comic book...160 pages, not much action but plenty of exposition and relational development (much like the game).

If anyone is interested in looking at the comic development so far, it can be found on my new dedicated blog... .

Any input would be appreciated.

It looks good so far, the character art work is well done, though some backgrounds may be nice. Not many games deal with the problem of finding new players, or preparing for the first session.

You may want to include more discussion the games themes, or assume that some of the illustrated players have never heard of the Walkabout before. Not everyone reads up on the latest small press and free games.

is presented in comic format. Its written in Swedish, so my understanding is a bit limited. I could tell you a lot about the FP-45 pistol, but I'll let its wordless instructions speak for themselves:
Games of imagination are never truly done. Yet tomorrow we shall start another one.

my new RPG blog.

Those topics are touched on...it's a fairly meticulously planned 160 page graphic novel (I've got every page's basic outline already prepared). It will go through player and GM preparation, character generation, the first session (scene by scene, act by act), and then discussions on where campaign play could progress.
