I once ran an group for 3 sessions for new players to give them a bit of a taste for it. I'd not met them before (it was part of the University Society). The bad guy was called Harold Stanton. One of the players said her Uncle was called Harold Stanton. Odd odd odd.

To be fair, most of my players are weird so any experience with them is an odd one.

"Wierd" is a difficult adjective. I have had some pretty silly experiences. Back when the old Doctor Who role-playing game first came out. One of the players made up his own version of a Time Lord who was a college student who came to earth to attend a "party" school. His TARDIS was in the shape of a beer cooler and he had to jump down into it. A good time was had by all.

I think I may have been more sophisticated in high school than I am now...

Lucky Draw...

Postby Chainsaw Aardvark » Mon Oct 16, 2006 1:36 pm

I don't believe in tarot or astrology, but I always wondered about the internal logic of these things and how they make people believe them. So I bought a book and a deck and was reading what each of the cards means and for fun. As a joke, I decided to do a reading for out characters just before a game of Orpheus.

The reading was dead on perfect!

The GM was running a pre-made adventure right from the book. A giant spectral tower pierced the sky, and the city became overwhelmed with a quite literal hell storm as evil sprits swarmed about.

I had drawn the falling tower card, as well as cards relating to working together and otherworldly events.

I still don't believe in fortune telling, but everyone was amazed.
