I think that depends on the gaming group. The thing about free verse is that it's free, and you can get by with a lot when you don't have rules.
Personally, I wouldn't play it in free verse (and I clearly wrote the thing in free verse), but that doesn't mean people can't.
With that said, you totally could. The only problem is that it would be very easy to make it silly on accident. As opposed to silly on purpose, which is fine.
