October 15-21: What did you play?

Postby Onix » Tue Oct 16, 2012 3:31 am

What games did you play this week? Give us a rundown of the story, system, player antics, anything you found enjoyable and share them in this thread.

I swore I did one of these last week and Rob replied to it, now the post seems to have gone missing

Just finished a session of Deadlands.

I'm playing a curious indian brave who lost most of his family and is now out to prove his bravery to the white members of the group. My wife is playing a mad scientist, snake oil saleswoman. The third guy is playing a very wanted criminal with a mysterious past.

While investigating a mine, we needed someone to crawl down a narrow hole. Stupidly I had picked the "Curiosity" hindrance, as well as being too brave for my own good. I crawled down the hole as bait with a rope around my waist, while the criminal and mad scientist held the other end of the rope.

I've survived so far, and have come back with a sample of unknown goop.

We're trying to work out ways to flood the mine and lure the monster up to the surface...

The finale for this part of the story will come next week.

Onix - you did, and I did. And I have NO IDEA where it went. I think it's a brilliant thread idea, thank you for persevering!

This week I ran another session of Dead ... and Back. I am furiously trying to get to the end of campaign battle before one of my players "drops her sprog". We also picked up a temporary player for one week, a WoW player who fancied trying his hand at tabletop. I think he had fun - it was obviously a bit more taxing than WoW but he definitely threw himself into it.

The PCs did a long look through the research facility that they had broken into and found an NPC who had been living down there on his own for 5 years. After an accident, the scientists in the facility turned zombie and he had to kill them all, which turned him skitzophrenic. I've been sitting on this NPC idea for about 3 years! Goes to show - write all your ideas down, you never know when they might come in handy.

They want to turn the whole facility back on but they don't know what security systems might come on too. That's for next week. We've really enjoyed playing Dead ... and Back. I'm making an unofficial character sheet for it for larks.

After my player's bun comes out of the oven, we'll be looking for another game. I think the Icar Fleet setting will be mostly ready to play but I need to see what state the group is in before I suggest that. Either way, it's going to be a free game - I'm not going to run something that is bought. I'd rather run something free and unfinished.

We started a new Call of Cthulhu campaign. Not sure the title of it but its fun so far. I play a disgraced first generation Norwegian-American Professor of Marine Biology and my companions are an artist and a speakeasy bar worker.

I'm running a Pathfinder game using the Kingmaker adventure path, it's going well but I find it harder to find the time to prep properly these days. It's better when you wing it anyway!

Otherwise I'm very bogged down in the doldrums of academia, Ethics of hacking, anyone? no? ok, just me then.

I didn't get to play this week, half my group was busy building a room for the new arrival.

Joined an on-going Vampire: the Masquerade chronicle set in New Orleans, 1993. We are doing an all-Malkavian coterie, so obviously there's a lot more going on inside the heads of the characters and sometimes between them, then interaction with the "outside" world. E.g. my character (his Embrace was one of the main events of this session, played last Thursday) suffers from solipsism disorder, basically a form of schizophrenia, he's sure that only his own mind exists. Sometimes he has moments of clarity (or unclarity?), but mostly he just has a very hard time dealing with the outside world. At the same time (well, when he's not self-contained) he's quite a caring person, so the first feeding's gonna be crucial... looking forward to it.
One of the other characters got possessed by some Kuei-Jin demon spirit during one of the previous sessions, so there's a lot to cope with. It sometimes takes over and can do pretty harsh things. Now it looks like it has weakened for some time after the last Malkavian in the party casted Dementation 2 on it.

We role-play everything, e.g. teaching of disciplines, so it's kinda interesting. We have some sorts of a mentor - Niccolo Machiavelli in person. It's fun interacting with him. So far my character managed to learn some Domination, but failed at Obfuscate...

We haven't gotten really far into the storyline, but it seems to include some of the usual Camarilla vs. Sabbat stuff. It's not really the accent so far, as mentioned before. Oh, and it's Mardi Gras time, so probably every friggin supernatural will activise, I reckon.

I'm having fun, I used to be a very keen V:tM palyer, so now I'm kinda reviving those old feelings. Second session today.
An operating table is now an altar.
