This would be an open game for as long as we are in the prep phases. At the point where we actually get it going, then I would still consider letting a new player in, but it would be on a case-by-case basis. Keet, if your neighbors want in, point them on over here, the more the merrier.
As to alternate setting, I am open. I just need to make sure we are all on the same page when it comes to the setting (rules, I can handle all on my end). Any of the World of Darkness, Scarred Lands, Planescape, Heavy Gear, Iron Kingdoms, Legend of the Five Rings... whatever. The key is making sure everyone has a grasp on the world, and is prepared to roleplay.
In general, a Play-by-Post game is sustained by the activity of the players. Since combat actually interrupts to the flow of the game I would like to emphasize character interaction as a way to drive the game. As such, picking a setting the encourages players to interact amounbgst themselves rather than specifically waiting for the GM to advance the plot is key.
Basically, everyone makes a character, submits the stats to me, and then I set up the opening scene and you guys have each of your characters meet one another. The characters will converse and generally decide how to overcome obstacles... any rolling or actions that need to be resolved via dice will be handles on my end and I will post the results. PbP is nice because the posts come in time logged and available for all to see, so we can see how the conversations unfold and help create a story together.
I plan to have one General and one OOC (out-of-character) thread. From there, if someone wants to spin off into a private conversation then thewould open a new thread and label it "private." We would have to rely on one another to keep the sanctity of those threads. Otherwise, we all sit around, post twice or so a week (more if you want) and role play via these forums.
well, since this is going to be character driven, may I suggest either
1) Rokugan courtier game, where each character represents a different clan in the winter court.. or
2) A Vampire: Dark Ages game, where each character fulfills one of the positions of the Prince's advisors... or
3) Vampire: Masquerade, where the characters make up a primogen council.. or
4) Something else you might be more interested in
I am definitely interested in playing and I think my brother is as well. I have been busy or I would have responded sooner. I am up for Warcraft but I would also like to play Rokugan because I have never played it before. I will play whatever game that the majority picks, but I am hesitant about playing a Vampire game because it might get confusing with the one we are currently playing.
