Miniature map square

How big is a "standard" miniature map square? Like those in D&D.

I don't have one in front of me so I can't be sure, but I believe they're a square inch, or something close to that.

Yes, D&D is 1 inch x 1 inch. Mage Knight and the Clix games use a larger 1.5 x 1.5 inch grid.
