Icar Elements 3.55 complete!

Postby Rob Lang » Mon Sep 11, 2006 11:26 am

It's only taken me 18 months to finish the graphics on the new version of the Elements (core rules) so I can finally say goodbye to the old rulebook. It's a big target to be hit and although there will be more tweaks and alterations (some of the graphics aren't my finest), I think the book is ready for people to use, rather than just being in a tentative 'Alpha' stage.

Hopefully, this heralds a new era where I can finally get some of the other books finished and uploaded.

All comments and critique on the rulebook are most welcome.

Gawd! It's fantastic! Really quality work Rob. Have you considered putting it to print? Maybe at ?

I have considered it Keeton. Some of my regular group players (those that have been playing it weekly for 16 years) are keen to have a colour print of it. I really want the three 'must have' books in one go - core rules, background and setting.

Thanks for the kind comments, you're making me blush!

I have heard about LuLu but never checked it out. I am going to. Someone should write an artical about RPG resources that looks at things like printing resources (LuLu) or artwork (like the MegaMini's free art or all of the cheap licensed clip art available on RPGNow.) Can you think of other sources for amatuer RPG designers that would be useful?

Wow! Rob this is just gorgeous!! I really, really, really want to find a group and try to play this now... I love Sci-Fi and I really would love to run some Sci-Fi some times. I ran Traveller back in the early 80s but stopped when Mega-Traveller came out because I didn't like it. The Icar Elements book is wonderful. My first ever RPG that I put on-line was called Xero-Space. I have no record of it now... I may have a hard copy out in the garage... maybe it would be worth my while to try and recreate the whole thing just for nostalgia's sake. I love the looks of Icar: Elements 3.5 Rob. If at all possible... I will try it.

Jeff, you flatter me! I have put a lot of work into the graphics (most free rpgs are quite plain) and it's the main reason why it's taken so long to complete. The Society book is going to be much the same.

I'd love for you to try it. I understand that quite a few have played it but feedback is so difficult to come by.

Just having you praise the look of it is enough to power me on. There is nothing quite like the thumbs up of your peers.

Hi Rob,

Thanks very much for the welcome....I'm not a bot, at least I wasn't the last time I checked in the mirror! Given this thread was about , the link I gave was to a very good friend of mine's site at which markets authors books as well.

Best,
